Events didn't go as planned

Sadly today's event didn't go to plan. It was raining heavily throughout the night Friday from 6pm onwards.
By 7am Saturday when we should have been busy loading up the vehicle and sorting last minute things like feeding the cats and having a quick snack... We couldn't even step outside the front door to unlock the car for the immense downpour still in progress.

Perhaps unprofessional of us, but at this point we have good reason.. we just basically decided to head back to bed for a few more hours and keep checking the progress of the weather throughout the next 4 hours. By 11am it was clear that no matter how long we waited it would be a complete write-off if we persisted in trying to attend the event (even if it WAS only 5 minutes walk away from our house) - and we decided it was best to reschedule the days tasks.

The cats litterboxes and play time became number one priority (they'd have been done in the evening otherwise), followed by several hours of trying to arrange some important work online, sorting insurances, paying bills - that sort of thing.

Later towards 2pm it DID stop raining for all of about 45 minutues or so, Then at 3.30pm completely poured down again.

Shopping became the next "important TO DO" instead as we obviously would not be going this late in the day to the event regardless of the weather and we have several more events coming up (two of which are this weekend also).

It's a shame that yet again we had to spend so many hours setting up and planning stock only to have it come to nothing.

See previous events that have been cancelled or otherwise changed at the last minute. Some could argue that it's just not worth booking them anymore (something that's been a topic of discussion here for some years anyway) but we DO need to fundraise and the events used to always be a handy source of quick cash. It's just a shame that venues (not today's - that was just bad luck because of the weather) aren't up to snuff anymore or have extremely shoddy organisors.
